Registration



MTN Homeland is for residents of United Kingdom who wish to send money or airtime to MTN Mobile Money ("MTN MoMo") users in Africa.



Verification



1. A copy of your identity document, which could be any of the following: o Passport (from any country) o UK Driver's licence o UK National ID card Please provide a high-quality photo or scan of your identity document. The identity document must be valid for at least six months, and all relevant letters and numbers must be visible. We also require a Selfie as part of the verification process.



Transfer



You can make money transfers to: Benin, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Liberia, Malawi, Madagascar, Mozambique, Niger, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia. More destinations will be added in the near future. You can send airtime to: Afghanistan, Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Cyprus, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia.



Sending money with MTN Homeland costs £2 to £4, depending on the amount sent. To send airtime, there is no transfer cost – you pay only the value of the airtime



Before your account has been verified, you can send a transaction of up to £100. After verification, you can send up to £1000 per transaction.



No. Money transfers through MTN Homeland can only be delivered to MTN MoMo users.



MTN Homeland currently only accepts credit and debit cards.



We accept Visa, Maestro Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, and MasterCard.



For each transfer that you make, either Money Transfer or Airtime, you will receive two emails. The first email confirms that a transaction was initiated and that the payment was successful and being processed. The second email confirms that the transaction has been delivered to the recipient.



Our exchange rates are typically between the market mid-rate and the exchange rate offered by banks.



Unfortunately, transfers that have already been delivered cannot be cancelled, reclaimed or refunded. Therefore it is important to ensure that the mobile phone number you have entered is correct.



This error message means that the mobile number is not associated with an active MTN MoMo account. Please ensure that your recipient has activated Mobile Money, and that the number has been entered correctly.



Money transfers are paid into the recipient's account within a few minutes.




Activity



You can view your last ten transactions under Activity. Tap on any transaction to view more details.



Account and safety



You can close your account by emailing our support team at support@homeland.mtn.com with your request to close your account. We will mark your account as closed and you will no longer be able to log in to access your account.




Your personal data is protected as required under the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation and in compliance with international legal standards. Please refer to our data exchange and protection policy for more details.




Yes. MTN Homeland does not store sensitive card details. Your sensitive card details are stored safely and securely by our card processing provider.



Troubleshooting



If you did not get an OTP, please ensure that your mobile number was entered correctly. If your number was entered correctly and you still do not receive an OTP, please send an email to support@homeland.mtn.com and we will investigate the issue




In case of such event, please email us at support@homeland.mtn.com and provide us with the reference number for the transaction. In the event of a technical malfunction, we will fully refund the money and transaction fee. Note that transactions that have already been successfully completed are final and cannot be cancelled, recalled, or refunded.



Receiving money



The recipient needs to have a MTN MoMo account before you can send them money. We deliver the money to the recipient’s MTN MoMo account.




No. Recipients don’t have to be registered on MTN Homeland. However, recipients need to have a MTN MoMo account in the destination country.




As soon as the transaction is completed, the recipient can use the funds to pay for goods anywhere Mobile Money is accepted. If they prefer to use cash, the recipient can withdraw cash at their nearest MTN MoMo agent.




We credit the funds to the recipient’s account, including a withdrawal fee as part of the money transfer. If the recipient chooses to withdraw cash from the account, a withdrawal fee is charged by MTN MoMo in the destination country.
